The day will begin with a visit to Château de Chenonceau, a historic gem spanning the Cher River, surrounded by beautiful gardens designed by Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers. You will then have free time for lunch in Amboise (not included), before visiting the Clos Lucé, the residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Finally, you'll explore the prestigious Château Royal d'Amboise, a royal retreat and the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci. Our team will accompany you in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. After this fascinating day, Val de Loire Travel will return you to your departure point (your accomodation or the Tourist Office).
Let’s go for a full-day excursion to discover: IN THE MORNING THE CHATEAU OF AMBOISE: built in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries on the orders of Charles VIII, Louis XII and Francis I, the Chateau of Amboise was one of the first truly “royal” residences. It is a prestigious example of combined Gothic and Renaissance architecture with Saint Hubert chapel where Leonardo da Vinci rests. THE CLOS LUCE - PARC LEONARDO DA VINCI in Amboise: last residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Visit of the castle, its 40 fabulous machines and the landscaped course. Lunch in a restaurant in Amboise. IN THE AFTERNOON THE CHATEAU OF CHENONCEAU: built in the sixteenth century, one of the purest early French Renaissance style works, constructed on the foundations of an ancient fortified water mill in the river bed itself. This excursion is available on tuesday and friday from April to November. Depending on the programming of the minibuses, the program is likely to be modified. We will start our day with Acco Dispo by visiting the French Gardens of the Chateau of Villandry, that makes it one of the most beautiful gardens in France. It is divided in 3 patios: the 1st one is a mix of vegetables, fruit trees and vines, the 2nd one is made of sculpted bushes, and the last one is a water garden. Then, we will visit the Chateau of Azay-le-Rideau, its elegant facades are like a jewel trapped between sky and river. You will discover its 500 years old framework, as well as furniture and tapestries from different periods, in the living rooms. After the lunch break, we will continue our memorable day by visiting the Chateau of Chenonceau, also known as the « Ladies’ Chateau » which was embellished by famous women, such as Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici. This elegant structure built on the river will mesmerize you with its unique Renaissance architecture, furniture and gardens that will make you daydream. We will finish our excursion by visiting the Royal Chateau of Amboise, which was Francis the 1st’s main residence. With its Gothic and Renaissance styles, the chateau will make you fall in love its panoramic view on the valley. And you must not forget about the St. Hubert’s chapel, where Leonardo da Vinci rests in peace.

Each year, internationally renowned landscape architects, compete on a specific theme. Before Catherine de Medici used this Chateau to evict Diane de Poitiers from the Chateau of Chenonceau, she and Nostradamus dwelled there. After the lunch break, we will get back to the Cher valley in order to visit the Chateau of Chenonceau, also known as the « Ladies’ Chateau » which was embellished by famous women, such as Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici. This elegant structure built on the river will mesmerise you with its unique Renaissance architecture, furniture and gardens that will make you daydream. We will finish up our day with the visit of the Clos Lucé - a royal present from Francis the 1st to Leonardo da Vinci, where he spent his last 3 years of his life. You will enter his privacy as you roam his study, and will discover a large collection of models based on his sketches, as well as his bedchamber where he took his last breath at the age of 67.
