Alongside the Loire river with the beautiful Tours country landscape dotted with vineyards, Rochecorbon is a commune full of surprises for a refreshingly unique weekend just 5 km from Tours.
Start with the farmer’s market (saturday morning) to pick up some tasty Tours specialities. Discriminating gourmets will also find their heart’s desire at Label Échoppe, a cooperative grocery store in the village’s former post office, offering a fine range of local artisan products. Once you’ve filled up your basket, treat yourself to a picnic as you gaze at the Loire from the shade beneath the trees in the park next to the Saint-Georges car park.
After lunch, head to the Domaine Bourillon Dorléans estate. Since 1921, this estate has been growing the chenin grape variety on the hillsides of Rochecorbon, part of the Vouvray designation. Its troglodytic cellars feature 40 works of art sculpted in tuffeau stone, and the estate offers wine tastings.
In summer, enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Guinguette de Rochecorbon where you can dance on the dance floor and eat dinner beneath the lanterns at the river’s edge.
Lace up your walking shoes and explore the surroundings as you follow the marked trail between the Loire and the vineyards. Setting off from the Notre-Dame-des-Vosnes church car park, 8.8 km of marked trails await you as you discover the AOC-AOP Vouvray vineyards, troglodytic habitats and several exceptional views of the Loire river.
At lunch time you can eat at the Auberge du Croissant. This bed and breakfast-restaurant with its cosy and modern décor offers a short and creative menu based on the farm-to-table principle.
To end your weekend on a high note, set sail on a Loire boat for a river cruise to discover the wildlife along the river’s edge, with an introduction to sailing or just to admire the landscape
