Between Rue du Grand Marché and Place de la Victoire, on the borders of Vieux-Tours, lie the peaceful, meandering streets that make up the Quartier des Arts: Rue du Petit Saint-Martin, Rue Étienne Marcel and Rue Eugène Sue, a low-profile area that has been home to twenty or more artists’, craftspeople’s and gallerists’ workshops for over 40 years.
Yet tourists and locals often pass this little treasure by without even noticing it.
The Quartier des Arts was officially inaugurated on 25 September 2021. Signposting has since been put up so visitors can get their bearings easily and don’t miss out on any of the workshops to be found in these beguiling little streets. A stroll around the district holds promise of some memorable artistic and human encounters.
